=3DOverview=3D

This Summer School is= aimed for students and scholars interested in multilingual=A0
technologies - particularly, in any of the following topics:

- computer implementation of natural language grammars
- multilingual systems for translation, localization,=A0
=A0 human-computer interaction, language education
- web and mobi= le applications of natural language technology
- novel applicatio= ns of functional programming, type theory, compiler construction
- hybrid systems combining grammars with statistic methods
- open= -source natural language applications and resources
- deepening y= our understanding of languages via computer implementation

The school will give a thorough introduction to GF, Grammatical = Framework
(http:/= /www.grammaticalframework.org) and take the students to a level where t= hey
can contribute to research and software development in the field. It w= ill also give
a hand-on introduction to SMT (Statistical Machine = Translation) and enable the students=A0
to build SMT systems with= standard tools and hybrid grammar-SMT systems.

The first GF Summer School in 2009 attracted 30 partici= pants from 16 countries in Africa,
America, Asia, and Europe. ran= ging from third-year students to full professors.
